The first Supercross of 2010 was spectacular, to say the least. Many of you know the first race starts with a few pre kick off parties, media events, and a big press conference the Thursday before the race.

It’s kinda’ like a big adventure for all of us at Supercross.com as we get set to embark on this remarkable 17 race journey across the country for the 2010 AMA / FIM Supercross Series!

Courtesy Feld Motorsports: In arguably the biggest move in the off season, James Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., signed a five year agreement with the Toyota/Yamaha/JGR MX team. Stewart will make his debut on the Joe Gibbs Racing machine January 7, 2012, at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., when the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, begins.

James Stewart

Stewart, a two-time Supercross Class champion, and former AMA Motocross Champion, has created mainstream headway for the sport of supercross since turning professional in 2002, becoming the first-ever African American to win a major motorsports title. The highly-publicized move to the Gibbs team garnered national media coverage, including the front page of USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and ESPN?s Sports Center, to name a few, for the 25-year-old phenom.

Photographer’s Blog-G.P. Helmet Art

I spent more time on the grid in 2011 than ever before and one of the interesting benefits of this was the level of details I started noticing in some of the helmets. On TV, or even at trackside, it's difficult to see exactly what the helmet designers have done to make each rider's crash hat unique.

So I started grabbing a few close up shots of helmets as they popped out of the hustle and bustle that makes up a G.P. grid. This collection is arbitrary in that I made no effort to look at each helmet to find the best ones. There simply isn't time to do that, nor is it possible to look in a systematic way since the bikes arrive in an unpredictable order, and the grid itself is a fairly hectic space until right before the start when they kick us off.

Who dat?

This week I caught up with Kevin Windham. In the video below, Kevin Windham talks about the Superbowl Champions, the NFL’s New Orleans Saints, his family, his future plans for racing and beyond.

The Superbowl XLIV champions, the New Orleans Saints, have many fans – among them is none other than the number 14 in Supercross, Kevin Windham. While the NFL season started when Supercross was in its off season, Kevin was able to take part in season tickets to his favorite NFL team – da’ Saints. Eventually the 2010 Supercross season got underway in January, which meant Kevin was flying off after those Saturday night Main Events back East to watch the New Orleans Saints Playoff games.

On February 7, 2010 the New Orleans Saints headed to the Superbowl in Miami, Florida and Kevin Windham and his wife Dottie made arrangements to attend this momentous occasion. First, however Kevin had to finish up a Supercross race in San Diego the night before.

Kuala Lumpur – Travel careers Marco Simoncelli in the primary classroom not long motorcycle grand prix. He died while diving the race at the Sepang circuit, where he had made sure he became a world champion.

Simoncelli, 24, died after falling off his motorbike on the second lap MotoGP Malaysia, Sunday (10/23/2011), after she was then hit by two other drivers speeding behind him, namely Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi.

He had an ambulance was rushed to hospital, but his soul can not be saved. When the horrific incident took place, regardless of his helmet to his head.

Death rider San Carlo Gresini Honda team was the worst in MotoGP since Daijiro Katoh, which Gresini rider, died of injuries from the Japanese series 2003. September last season, the drivers of the Moto2 class, namely Showa Tomizawa, also lost their lives on the track racing.

No less surprising, the new week in the world racing accident that killed a participant, ie And Wheldon, the IndyCar British event in Las Vegas.

Simoncelli really was knitting a bright career in MotoGP, after finishing eighth last season, completing 16 of 18 races in that year.

In this season he proved many people predicted that he will be one rider to be reckoned with. The proof, he was able to finish fifth in the series opener in Qatar, also in France and Italy. He earned his first podium when he became the third fastest rider in the Czech Republic.

Simoncelli more stable when consecutive series in fourth place in San Marino, Aragon, and Japan. In the series-16 at Phillip Island, Australia, he managed to reach its highest achievement, which was runner-up (behind Casey Stoner).

In addition to a promising talent, quirky guy with hair kribonya it also often sparked controversy. Racing style is considered “gratuitous”, more than bold, and several times the assessed harm other drivers.

One of the most dangerous action is when brushed with Dani Pedrosa at Le Mans. Pedrosa injured collarbone, and he was sentenced to ride-through penalty. Initially Simoncelli dodge blame for the crash, but later admitted that he needs to do a reflection on the style of racing.

Before moving to MotoGP, Simoncelli had been a European champion in the 125cc class. He entered the Grand Prix level in 2002 with Aprilia in the 125cc class. Her achievements are always rises: from finishing number 33 to 21, 11, and five in 2005.

In 2006 The Kribo recruited to the 250cc Gilera, and in summer 2008 he managed to become world champion. Certainty grabbed it acquired title when he finished third in the race at Sepang.

Simoncelli in the Sepang well “acquainted” with the MotoGP, as the new Honda rider in the 2010 season. On the circuit he fell twice in the official trials. The incident is the second to destroy his helmet.

And today, Sunday (23/10/2011), Simoncelli back to Sepang but to “say goodbye” to fans and fans of MotoGP. He died in a high speed.

RJ Says: Give me a break in between supercross and motocross

Is the combined supercross / motocross season of today’s era too long?

As a former supercross and motocross racer, I don’t think the season is too long. Racers want to race.

But I would like to see a couple of changes that I think will make it better for the riders, teams, and most importantly, the fans.

First, I’d like to see a much longer break in between the end of the Supercross season, and the start of the MX season.

I think it would be great if the riders could have at least a couple off weekends off after the supercross season ends. One of the reasons is they could do more ‘outdoor’ testing at that time, instead of during supercross season.

Kevin Windham to Race Additional Motocross Events

Courtesy American Honda Racing announced today that Kevin Windham will continue competing in the 2011 AMA Motocross Championship with the factory Honda team at select events. Windham had originally planned to complete his fill-in role after the return of Josh Grant at the Budds Creek National last weekend, but after posting solid results, including a strong fourth-place finish last weekend, Windham has decided to race additional rounds of the AMA Motocross series. Teammate Trey Canard has just begun training and riding once more, and is working on making his return to racing as soon as possible.
